Bridgeview Gardens Shaftesbury
Operated by the Marusiak family for two generations, Bridgeview Gardens spans 50 acres along the historic Shaftesbury Trail in Peace River. Famous throughout the Peace Country and beyond, this agricultural destination draws dedicated visitors from across the province and neighboring regions each summer, all eager to harvest the freshest, plumpest strawberries available. The farm emphasizes exceptional produce quality, connecting urban visitors to the land through a traditional u-pick experience.
Produce & Microclimate: While strawberries rule the roost every July, the farm also grows a wide variety of vegetables, including highly popular cucumbers. Thanks to a unique local microclimate that offers the perfect combination of warm temperatures and abundant summer sunshine, the property successfully grows sweet corn, a feature that often surprises visitors from southern Alberta. The absolute freshness of the harvest makes it a premier stop for both immediate enjoying and home canning or preserving enthusiasts.
Offerings & Markets: In addition to on-farm sales, Bridgeview Gardens occasionally brings its fresh produce to various local Peace Country farmers’ markets throughout the season.
Hours: Open Friday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Seasonality: The farm expects to open for the season during the first week of July. Because actual opening dates and crop availability depend entirely on the weather, visitors are highly encouraged to call ahead before traveling.
