Lac Bourgeau
The Bourgeau Lake trail is a classic hike featuring a steady climb through old-growth forest to a spectacular glacial cirque. The lake itself is an alpine gem with crystal-clear waters, cradled by towering rock walls. The trek covers 15 km (round trip) with an elevation gain of 725 m, and is rated as moderate to difficult. It is highly recommended to arrive at the trailhead parking lot (located off the Trans-Canada Highway) before 9:00 AM, as space is limited. The prime season runs from late June to early October; please note the trail crosses significant avalanche paths, making winter access hazardous without specialized training and equipment.
