Larch Valley/Sentinel Pass

Sentinel Pass is a spectacular hike starting from the world-famous Moraine Lake. The trail first climbs through the majestic Larch Valley, a haven of larch trees that turn golden in September, before reaching the high pass nestled between Pinnacle and Sentinel peaks. Covering 11.6 km (round trip) with an elevation gain of 800 m, this trek is rated as difficult. At the summit, the panoramic views of the Ten Peaks and Paradise Valley are truly breathtaking. It is highly recommended to book the Parks Canada shuttle to access the trailhead, as Moraine Lake Road is closed to private vehicles, and to carry bear spray, as this area is prime grizzly bear habitat.
