Melsness Mercantile
Located in the heart of Valhalla, Alberta, the “Melsness Mercantile Building” was declared a provincial historical site for its role in the Lutheran Norwegian community around Valhalla. The Mercantile is now home to the Mercantile Cafe, a non profit organization helping to support community needs. On site, you’ll find the heritage room which is a museum that pays tribute to the area’s Scandinavian heritage, as well as a craft corrner that allows local artisans to display and sell their wares and a Norwegian gift shop. The Mercantile Cafe as prepares homemade soups, sandwiches and various deserts, using locally raised and Alberta grown products whenever possible.
