Town of Fort Macleod

Fort Macleod is a captivating destination steeped in heritage, famous for its downtown core, which is a designated Provincial Historic Area. The heart of the experience is the Fort Museum, a faithful reconstruction of the 1874 fort that explores the history of the North-West Mounted Police and the Blackfoot First Nations. The town is also home to the Empress Theatre, the oldest continuously operating theatre in Western Canada. Nearby, visitors can explore the world-renowned Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is highly recommended to plan your visit between July and August to witness the famous “Musical Ride,” a spectacular historical equestrian demonstration performed daily during the summer months.
