Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement Cultural Interpretive Centre
Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement is one of Alberta’s eight unique Métis settlements, located approximately 200 km northeast of Edmonton. Deeply rooted in history as a former 19th-century wintering site, the modern community was formally established in 1941. It serves as a vibrant hub for preserving Métis heritage, highlighted by its Cultural Interpretive Centre and annual Cultural Days. Spanning over 35,000 hectares, the settlement hosts various outdoor activities and a popular annual rodeo, while fostering a strong spirit of local entrepreneurship.
