Fort Vermilion Heritage Centre
Dedicated to preserving and showcasing the vibrant history of Northern Alberta, the Fort Vermilion Heritage Centre offers visitors an immersive journey through time. This historic complex features a museum, an archives department, and two heritage houses. Through its diverse exhibits, the centre brings the past to life—covering everything from prehistoric fossils and bones to Indigenous heritage, the fur trade, trapping, northern agriculture, and even recent regional events like the major flood of 2020.
Whether you are a traveler passing through, a family gathering for the summer, or a river adventurer paddling down the Peace River, a guided tour by the knowledgeable staff is the best way to uncover the vast stories packed into this cozy space. During the summer, the experience gets even better with a themed Escape House and a historical interpretive mini-golf course.
