Indian Trail Adventures
Immerse yourself in an extraordinary cultural journey in the heart of the Alberta Rocky Mountains with Indian Trail Adventures! This Indigenous-owned business takes its name from a centuries-old trail running through the eastern slopes of the Willmore Wilderness Park. Owner Curtis Hallock, a third-generation outfitter from the Mountain Métis and Aseniwuche Winewak Nation, passionately shares a resilient and traditional way of life deeply rooted in the land. Guided by the seven generations principle, the true stars of the experience are the family’s horses. Semi-wild, they roam free in the wilderness throughout the seasons before returning to work for the summer. Whether you choose a short trail ride or a multi-day trip modeled after ancestral ways of living, this transformative equestrian experience invites you to connect deeply with the rhythms of nature.
Riding Experience and Restrictions: Beginner riders are always welcome thanks to highly experienced horses, but good physical conditioning, a positive attitude, and a bit of mountain toughness are required. A rider weight restriction is in place for the well-being of the horses.
Duration and Rates: Offerings range from short hourly trail rides to multi-day wilderness expeditions (minimum guest requirements apply). Rates and booking details, which include guiding and full camp logistics for overnight trips, are available upon request. Expect to spend 4 to 6 hours in the saddle daily during overnight trips.
What to Pack: For trail rides, wear durable pants, sturdy shoes or cowboy boots, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Bring a filled water bottle and rain gear. For overnight trips, a full gear list will be provided upon inquiry, and you will need to bring your own tent and inflatable mattress.
Cell Service and Cancellations: There is little to no cell service on these trips, so be prepared to fully unplug. A tiered cancellation policy applies depending on how far in advance you cancel or reschedule your trip.
