Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site
The Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site invites visitors to discover the tumultuous era of the fur trade and the heritage of Indigenous peoples. Located at the confluence of the North Saskatchewan and Clearwater Rivers, this site houses the remains of four historic fur trading posts. Through interactive exhibits, blacksmithing demonstrations, and stories of explorer David Thompson, visitors dive into the daily lives of voyageurs and trappers. The site also offers unique camping experiences, including stays in tipis, trapper’s tents, or cabins. It is highly recommended to book your stay or activities several weeks in advance, as these themed accommodations are very popular during the summer season.
